A Selective Timeline of Art Censorship in the U.S.A.: 1992
Porn'Im'Age'Ry: Picturing Prostitutes, an exhibition curated by Carol Jacobsen, is taken down at the directions of its student sponsors from the University of Michigan Law School. The reason is the inclusion in the show of a sexually explicit video by Veronica Vera (Portrait Of A Sexual Evolutionary), which prompts a complaint from a guest speaker that the exhibit constitutes pornography. Michigan Law professor Catharine MacKinnon conveys the complaint to the students.
