Free Speech Matters


NCAC will hold its annual Celebration of Free Speech and Its Defenders on the evening of Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City. You can download the invitation and reply card for more details, or email us to request an invitation by mail. Tickets are now available online.

Honorees


NCAC will honor several individuals for their courage in defending First Amendment principles:

 

Marc Brown, creator of the bestselling Arthur and Postcards from Buster books, and the award-winning PBS series, for encouraging tolerance and speaking our against censorship.

 
  Preeta Bansal, Allison Levine, and Dvir Oren of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, for representing NCAC pro bono in the United States Supreme Court in Morse v. Frederick
» Read NCAC's Amicus Curiae brief in Morse v. Frederick

  Bonnie Dickinson & The Students of Theater Arts II, Spring 2007, from Wilton High School for their courage in writing and performing "Voices in Conflict."

  NCAC will also honor the achievements of Marvin Rich, a lifelong advocate for civil rights and freedom of expression.

The evening will also feature a screening the winning short films made by teen filmmakers on the topic: "How Does Censorship Affect Me?" Watch last year's winning films on YouTube!
